On our Friday Showcase afternoon, the Year 3 classroom went through a time warp and landed in a time over 3000 years ago…in the time of the Ancient Egyptians. There was excitement all afternoon as the Ancient Egyptian characters shared their life and beliefs with the other time travelers within the school. The afternoon concluded with parents and adults also coming in to discover and experience new information about the amazing Ancient Egyptians.
There was an opportunity for you to become an archaeologist, digging up artefacts; you could write your name in hieroglyphics; learn facts about Cleopatra and Nefertiti; you could enter a pyramid and see a (real live mummy!); you got the opportunity to get your heart weighed and meet the god Anubis, you could even taste Egyptian food and play with Egyptian toys. Check out some of the photos to see the fabulous activities and projects shared during this special showcase afternoon. Well done Year 3 – we had lots of fun!
Congratulations to all of our Year 1 – 6 classes! Our Topic Learning Showcase was a magnificent demonstration of the tremendous talent, hard work, knowledge and creativity of all involved. It was lovely to see so many family and friends come along to support the event and take part in the activities on offer. The children all really enjoyed the experience, both of sharing their knowledge with others, and also getting the opportunity to visit and learn from all the other classes too. An all-round success!

We have been back at school only a few weeks now, and already Year 3 have been invited along to other classes to share and discover some of the exciting activities that have been going on in their classrooms. Year 4 invited us to come and encounter their “Explorers and their Discoveries” projects they had researched into. Year 1 invited us to come and experience some of their ‘MindUp’ learning. We ourselves have been quite busy too. Read on to find out more…

What amazing creative poets we have in our Year 3 class. Click on to read a selection of their poems.

The Year 3s were really inspired by their recent visit to a beautiful garden. Having made close observational drawings of fruits and vegetables, they came back to school with sketches and patterns. They used these in a number of activities which, when put together, decorated the special ‘book bags’ that Mrs. Betty had made for them.
These parent guides will help you to see the progression of a child’s understanding of number and calculations from the Early Years through to Year 6. They demonstrate the teaching stages of each of the 4 operations:
In Science we have been looking at Teeth and in Numeracy we have been looking at Fractions. To combine our shark learning we decided to make some pop-up sharks with different coloured teeth. Look out for these beautiful sharks when you are out snorkeling next time!
On Tuesday, Key Stage 2 took part in our highly successful annual PE showcase. The children modeled all the skills that the KS2 teaching team have taught them in this half term in gymnastics and basketball.
Year 3 Dolphins have been busy looking at different ‘materials’ in science. First, we identified what ‘materials’ objects around the school were made of. For example our chairs are made of plastic, metal and rubber and our books are made from paper, card and metal. We then looked at the ‘properties’ (characteristics) of particular materials, using our wonderful adjectives to describe them – rubber is flexible, soft, strong and waterproof while metal is strong, rigid, smooth, waterproof and it can be shiny.
