We want to say a big “Well done!” to all our teachers for experimenting with this teaching technique throughout the year. As part of our ongoing professional development, teachers did a great job in learning, implementing and evaluating the strategy in their classes.
We hope you have enjoyed the diverse range of quality Talk4Writing projects undertaken and we will look forward to seeing this technique develop in the future!

Have you ever wondered how tall a tyrannosaurus rex was? Or how long a long a brachiosaurus was from nose to tail? Well, you’re in luck – Kindergarten set out to find this out!
Music was in the air last week as the Kindergarten class were inspired to form a whole-class band by a single student’s rat-tap-tapping!

The week following Halloween was an exciting and busy one in the Gecko Classroom! Children learned about and prepared to participate in the school’s Bonfire Night celebrations on Wednesday 5th November.
In Kindergarten class, we have been exploring our bodies this month to find out how and why we’re so different to each other! From measuring our height and collecting information about hair and eye colours in school, we’ve been busy thinking about how different our bodies look.

A spectacularly colourful display of spring bonnets paraded through the school today, donned by our younger students. The bonnets were thoroughly enjoyed by onlooking students, teachers and parents, who clapped and cheered to show their praise for the wonderfully creative designs. Well done to all the families for working on these together and do enjoy looking at the photos. It was so lovely to see such individuality and such a range of ideas on how to depict the theme of spring and Easter egg time.
Literacy came alive in the Kindergarten room as the students explored fish by creating ‘Sophia the Parrot fish’ and told her story. Please enjoy! How many sight words can you find?
What does “active learning” look like for mathematics? When the Kindergarteners play and explore the concept of number with the Cuisenaire rods they learn to partition the number ten in many different ways…one and nine, two and eight, three and seven. What a wonderful example of how children critically think about number in a concrete and hands on way!…In the name of “play” we support children’s learning in rich and meaningful activities.
Our waiting area includes clipboards for signing in our favourite stuffed animal pets who unfortunately have issues that need our attention. We have created and labeled their cages and are learning to care for them properly. As we learn more about our animal patients, we also actively learn skills in problem solving, collaboration, literacy, and numeracy. We are planning a trip to the Vets soon to further investigate how to care for our furry and feathered friends.
