\"\"<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Today is one of those occasions when we get to celebrate our young people \u2013 their achievements, their perseverance and their successes as they grow up.\u00a0 It is one of the times you can take a break and reflect, feeling good as a parent or mentor, knowing that the children you care about are doing just fine and they\u2019re on the right path.<\/p>\n

Graduates, you should know that your Mums and Dads are very proud of you today.\u00a0 They have high hopes for you, and they believe in you, and you are making them proud by showing them what you can do.\u00a0 Today is an important day for you and them.\u00a0 Today they are very, very proud of you. <\/p>\n

Today would also be a good day to thank all the people who have got you to this point: siblings, cousins, grandparents and teachers.\u00a0 They want you to be your best and live up to your potential.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ve had some great times this year and maybe some tough ones, but you did it and you succeeded.\u00a0 You are ready for the next step.\u00a0 As you prepare for this next step, I ask you to do a few things\u2026<\/p>\n

Dedicate yourself to making the next year even better.\u00a0 Remember that you don\u2019t have to follow the crowd.\u00a0 Do the right thing.\u00a0 Study hard and remember that you are investing in yourself with every test you take and every book you read.\u00a0 Finally, don\u2019t be in too big of a hurry to grow up.\u00a0 Some great times in your life lie ahead.\u00a0 Don\u2019t rush past them.<\/p>\n

I want to finish with some words from Dr. Seuss.<\/p>\n

\u2018You have brains in your head.\u00a0 You have feet in your shoes.\u00a0 You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.\u00a0 You\u2019re on your own.\u00a0 And you know what you know.\u00a0 You are the guy who\u2019ll decide where to go.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
