From painted footprints with Kindergarten to soccer with Grades 5 and 6 at Palencia Academy to photography with Mrs Krys, Grade 6 have enjoyed helping and working with all of these people
Painting Kindergarten Red!
We joined Kindergarten for an Art lesson. Miss Claire wanted her class to create multi-coloured footprints and Grade 6 were eager to help. After the introductions, we painted the soles of the Kindergarteners feet and guided them along a long sheet of paper before helping wash the paint off again. Artistically, the result was bright and colourful and socially, both groups benefitted from this experience.

In fact, it looked so much fun, that Grade 6 removed shoes and socks and had a go too!

Teaming Up with Palencia
As we are such a small class, we are trialling joining with the older children of Palencia Academy for Sport on a Thursday morning. This term, the sport has been soccer and we will soon be entering teams in under 11 and under 13 Soccer Tournaments.
  Â
On the same day, we are sharing other expertise and facilities with Palencia. After Sport, Miss Marva (the teacher from Palencia) teaches Grade 6 Social Studies – this term, this is the historical background to the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Meanwhile, next door, Mrs Karine teaches ICT to the Palencia students (as they do not have a Computer Room in their school). We feel that this makes the best use of everyone’s expertise and facilities.

Photoshopping.
Mrs Krys has been working with us for a few weeks. On her first visit, she showed us how models, singers and filmstars are made to look so much better with Adobe Photoshop – an ego-boosting experience I can highly recommend! Since then, she has been teaching us how to create pages for our own individual Grade 6 ‘Yearbook’ with bright, eye-catching backgrounds, jazzy frames and shadowy 3D effects. In addition, she will be showing us how to improve and enhance photos we have taken. This means we are taking photos at every opportunity.

We can’t wait to see who we will be working with next!
