{"id":9991,"date":"2012-10-29T19:15:34","date_gmt":"2012-10-29T19:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/provolearning.com\/blog\/?p=9991"},"modified":"2012-10-29T19:15:56","modified_gmt":"2012-10-29T19:15:56","slug":"year-3s-sunset-silhouettes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/provolearning.com\/blog\/school-news\/year-3s-sunset-silhouettes\/","title":{"rendered":"Year 3&#8217;s Sunset Silhouettes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/52407821\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"200\" height=\"175\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One of our parents at the school is a talented art teacher.\u00a0 She has been working with the Year 3 this week, helping them to develop their art skills.<\/p>\n<p>In our sunset silhouette art project the children\u00a0mixed primary colours to create secondary colours.\u00a0 They learnt how to blend these colours in horizontal lines to create a sunset sky effect.<\/p>\n<p>Then using templates, as well as their own shape ideas, they cut out different silhouetted objects in black paper and stuck them onto their sunset background. Some children also overlapped their silhouettes, just like they do in real life.<\/p>\n<p>The activity encouraged the children to understand how things that are closer appear bigger, and how things further away appear smaller and they were introduced to the vocabulary foreground, mid-ground, and background.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you, Charlotte.\u00a0 We had great fun and learnt lots of new art techniques, too!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of our parents at the school is a talented art teacher.\u00a0 She has been working with the Year 3 this week, helping them to develop their art skills.
