\"\"<\/a>Our Kindergarten children have been working really hard these last six weeks learning their letters and sounds. Now, they’ve moved on to sounding out simple words with word families, such as \u201cat\u201d, \u201cog\u201d and \u201can\u201d.<\/p>\n

Kindergarten was invited to the Year 1\u2019s class to listen to some lovely reading and they enjoyed it a lot.\u00a0 The children in Year 1 are becoming confident readers!\u00a0 Every two weeks, we plan on getting together to listen to each other read.\u00a0 Both Year 1 and Kindergarten children are really excited to add this new element of ‘Reading Buddies’ to their Literacy programme.<\/p>\n

A ‘Reading Buddies’ programme can help them develop a love of reading and a greater motivation to read.\u00a0 It allows both younger and older students the opportunity to develop fluency, as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments.\u00a0\u00a0 When children read books that they are confident in reading, it improves their reading abilities.\u00a0 As with any skill, reading needs to be practiced on a regular basis, and with this practice children can improve their skills whilst also developing new friendships.<\/p>\n
