\"\"<\/a>Inspired by lots of newly bought fiction books and our computer system needing updating, a chance to make a change and take ownership of the how the library is organised was seized by KS2 children this week.\u00a0 Discussion, debate, research and lots of sorting occurred as the children worked together to re-organise all the fiction books from the library shelves into their respective genres, during World Book Day Celebrations last week.<\/p>\n

“It felt good to work together to organise the library”…”I like how the different genre stickers will help me find the sort of books I’m interested in”…”I think our new library looks bright and colourful”.<\/p>\n

First the books were piled high outside the library.\u00a0 Then they were hijacked by each class and sorted according to their \u2018genre\u2019 –\u00a0 fantasy, historical fiction, real life drama, adventure, etc.\u00a0 New authors, titles and stories were suddenly discovered by us all.\u00a0 Books that had sleepily laid on the library shelves were once more re-discovered. \u201cI didn\u2019t know we had such great books in the library\u201d was a repeated comment made by many of the children throughout the activity.\u00a0 The library was suddenly \u2018alive\u2019 again.<\/p>\n

Much fun was had sorting all the books, but as one child said \u201cThe best bit was sticking all the labels on\u201d.\u00a0 New brightly coloured labels have been used to colour-code the genre of\u00a0 each book.<\/p>\n

But it was not only the children who had been busy. A HUGE thank you must go to volunteer, Mrs. Karina, who has – and is still – spending many, many hours adding and re-registering all the books into the computer system\u2026 amazing… thank you so much!<\/p>\n

What a wonderful and fun-filled achievement by all.\u00a0 We\u2019ve all been inspired to do even more<\/em> <\/strong>reading !<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
