{"id":4196,"date":"2010-12-16T00:41:35","date_gmt":"2010-12-16T05:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/?p=4196"},"modified":"2011-05-26T01:35:15","modified_gmt":"2011-05-26T01:35:15","slug":"christmas-problem-solving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/provolearning.com\/blog\/year-3\/christmas-problem-solving\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Problem Solving"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4201\" title=\"problem-solving-15-12-10-7\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/problem-solving-15-12-10-7.jpg?resize=460%2C345\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"345\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Our Year 6 and Year 4 level Math groups got together this week to work on some Christmas problem solving.\u00a0 The Year 6 took on the role of teachers, supporting the Year 4s.\u00a0 They prepared their lessons carefully, thinking through how they would help and encourage their partners to work through each problem, logically and methodically, using a range of strategies.\u00a0 Everyone enjoyed the experience and the room was a buzz of activity.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--> The Year 6&#8217;s felt that the experience had been really interesting and that teaching was hard but rewarding work.\u00a0 They enjoyed the challenge of trying to help, without giving answers away and they did really well with encouraging their partners to keep trying.\u00a0 The Year 4s really appreciated having their own personal teachers.\u00a0 The questions were tough, but they felt more confident as the session went on,\u00a0 discovering that they could work out the problems and were thankful for their excellent teachers!<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the math problems.
