{"id":3931,"date":"2010-06-16T09:58:24","date_gmt":"2010-06-16T09:58:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/?p=3931"},"modified":"2011-05-26T01:40:41","modified_gmt":"2011-05-26T01:40:41","slug":"all-aboard-year-34-explore-a-visiting-a-naval-ship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/provolearning.com\/blog\/year-3\/all-aboard-year-34-explore-a-visiting-a-naval-ship\/","title":{"rendered":"All Aboard-Yr 3\/4 Explore a Visiting a Naval Ship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full  wp-image-3934\" title=\"yr3-4-navy-ship-15-06-10\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/yr3-4-navy-ship-15-06-10.jpg?resize=460%2C274\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"274\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Three ships from the Dominican Republic Navy  made an official visit to the island on Monday June 14 for three days. \u00a0 The  vessels were crewed by more than 40 sailors.\u00a0\u00a0 Year 3\/4 accepted an invitation  from the Dominican Republic Naval fleet and headed to the Turtle Cove Marina for  an exciting tour of one of their ships. \u00a0 The children were escorted around the boat  by naval officers who kindly answered all their questions. <br style=\"clear: both;\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The children were  fascinated by the very hot engine room, amazed by the  equipment in the bridge,  impressed by the smells coming from the  galley, wanted to stay longer in the  PlayStation room and a were little  speechless at the petite size of the living quarters!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/yr3-4-navy-ship-15-06-10b1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3942\" title=\"yr3-4-navy-ship-15-06-10b\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/yr3-4-navy-ship-15-06-10b1.jpg?resize=320%2C480\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"480\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At the end  of their visit the children were grateful for the drinks which were kindly  provided for them!\u00a0 One of the children commented, &#8220;It was\u00a0very cool. They had two cannons. The  boat had engine rooms that smelt bad. There was a shower, beds and a  kitchen.\u00a0  They also had a Play Station and all the games.
