{"id":3505,"date":"2010-04-15T19:55:46","date_gmt":"2010-04-15T19:55:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/?p=3505"},"modified":"2011-05-26T01:48:10","modified_gmt":"2011-05-26T01:48:10","slug":"ancient-greek-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/provolearning.com\/blog\/year-3\/ancient-greek-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Ancient Greek Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3506\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"yr-3-4-greeks-26-03-10\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-26-03-10.jpg?resize=460%2C488\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"488\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last term ,Year3\/4 celebrated the end of their Ancient Greek topic by having an Ancient Greek day.\u00a0 The children  came to school dressed in Greek clothes and really looked the part!\u00a0 All of Year 3\/4 would like to say a BIG thanks to parents who  contributed to their Greek Feast!\u00a0 The day was a huge success!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-1-26-03-10.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full  wp-image-3511\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"yr-3-4-greeks-1-26-03-10\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-1-26-03-10.jpg?resize=460%2C246\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"246\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The day  started with their own version of the Olympics.\u00a0 It was previously decided, for  obvious reasons that girls could take part and boys were allowed to wear clothes!\u00a0\u00a0 Miss  Steph put the children into three teams so that Sparta, Athens and Crete were represented.\u00a0 They really enjoyed competing in the javelin, wrestling and  discus competitions as well their own version of a chariot race and the marathon!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-5-26-03-10.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full  wp-image-3510\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"yr-3-4-greeks-5-26-03-10\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-5-26-03-10.jpg?resize=460%2C556\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"556\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-4-26-03-10.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full  wp-image-3509\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"yr-3-4-greeks-4-26-03-10\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-4-26-03-10.jpg?resize=460%2C410\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"410\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a little rest, the children\u2019s creative side was tested as they made their  own Greek pots.\u00a0 They then used these to retell Greek stories in picture  form, for people in the future to find!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-3-26-03-10.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full  wp-image-3507\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"yr-3-4-greeks-3-26-03-10\" src=\"https:\/\/i1.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/yr-3-4-greeks-3-26-03-10.jpg?resize=460%2C507\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"507\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The final part of the day was spent doing  what they do best, eating!\u00a0 The children enjoyed a huge array of Greek food, including &#8211;
