{"id":2773,"date":"2009-10-04T21:26:58","date_gmt":"2009-10-04T21:26:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/?p=2773"},"modified":"2013-04-20T19:52:02","modified_gmt":"2013-04-20T19:52:02","slug":"school-council-elections-2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/provolearning.com\/blog\/school-news\/school-council-elections-2009\/","title":{"rendered":"School Council Elections 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"460\" height=\"350\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowfullscreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=6901745&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=1&amp;color=00adef&amp;fullscreen=1\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"460\" height=\"350\" src=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=6901745&amp;server=vimeo.com&amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portrait=1&amp;color=00adef&amp;fullscreen=1\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>This week we had our School Council Elections and many children in Years 2-7 took the opportunity to run to be their class representative.\u00a0 Read on to find out more about the elections and what it takes to be a great School Councillor.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Schools work better when students and teachers are working together and listening to each other.\u00a0 Children often notice things that need changing that adults aren&#8217;t aware of.\u00a0 The School Council is a forum where children can come together in a meeting and help make decisions about the school.\u00a0\u00a0 Each year, two representatives from each class from Years 2-7 are elected by their peers.\u00a0 They attend the School Council meetings and act as spokespeople for their class.\u00a0 Children in Year 1 take turns to come to meetings and are guided and supported by the older children.<\/p>\n<p>Leading up to the elections, the children running for Class Rep produced posters and each gave a presentation to their class on why they would be a good choice.\u00a0 Here are a couple of the posters.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2775 alignnone\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"school-council-2009\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/school-council-2009.jpg?resize=460%2C290\" alt=\"school-council-2009\" width=\"460\" height=\"290\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The classes then took a vote and the new reps were announced to the whole school in our Celebration Assembly.\u00a0 Congratulations to this year&#8217;s School Council Reps and to everyone who tried out and did their best.\u00a0 A big thank you also to last year&#8217;s reps for all your hard work and effort.<\/p>\n<p>Being on the School Council is a serious job.
