\"\"<\/a>As a school, we have been learning about the UN <\/span>Sustainable Development Goals<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span> (SDGs) <\/span>over the last half term. These <\/span>17 <\/span>goals<\/span>, <\/span>part of <\/span>The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,<\/span><\/a> are<\/span>,<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/i>an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth \u2013 all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.<\/span><\/i>\u201d <\/span><\/i>

That sounds like something everyone should get involved in, doesn\u2019t it? Well, our students certainly think so. <\/span><\/p>\n

After spending some time familiarising themselves with the SDGs in their assemblies, our Year 6, 7 and 8 students have been discussing how they might help us all work towards a more sustainable future. And, as always, they are brimming over with ideas!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Armed with their new found knowledge, our older students embarked on a mission to become ambass<\/span>adors for SDG initiatives at Provo Primary and Middle<\/span> S<\/span>chool. Their first task was to facilitate <\/span>assemblies or<\/span> group activities in all the other classes in our school, <\/span>right <\/span>from Toddlers to Year 6. They asked<\/span> all the students <\/span>the <\/span>same question:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cHow can we make our world a better place?\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

What do you think our students said? Come and visit our station at the <\/span>upcoming Education Week Showcase on Friday 6<\/span><\/b>th<\/span><\/b> March<\/span><\/b> @ 2:15 – 2:50pm to find out, and see the results of our school-wide activities.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The students <\/span>will continue to explore how we can effectively lead changes in our school that help us work towards <\/span>the SDGs. Keep an eye out for updates on our activities over the coming weeks.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
