They begin to respond to and ask questions about their name and age. They learn to count, read and write numbers. \u00a0 They discuss linguistic diversity within their class and learn that Spanish is spoken in many places around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The framework ensures that children&#8221;s learning in each year group is guided through clear stages of progression and that they are challenged.<\/p>\n<p>Teaching involves a wide variety of active learning and collaborative activities. The children explore and learn Spanish through games, songs and rhymes, simple conversations and role-plays activities,\u00a0 interactive whiteboard and computer activities and independent worksheets.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a couple of fun websites to share at home:\u00a0 <a title=\"Primary Spanish\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/schools\/primaryspanish\/\" target=\"_blank\">BBC Primary Spanish<\/a> and <a title=\"Spanish Games\" href=\"http:\/\/www.prescot-school.knowsley.sch.uk\/prescot-language\/mfl-site\/primarySchool\/spanishPrimary.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Online Games<\/a> Let us know if you find any others or have any good resources that we can use at school.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The Framework has been devised to enable schools to build motivating and imaginative teaching plans and units, which deal with topics of real\u00a0 interest and relevance to children, and reflect the richness and diversity of\u00a0 society.<\/p>\n<p>The Objectives comprise three clearly progressive core strands of teaching<\/p>\n<p>and learning:<br \/>\n\u2022 Oracy<br \/>\n\u2022 Literacy<br \/>\n\u2022 Intercultural understanding.<br \/>\nIn addition, two cross-cutting strands are included:<br \/>\n\u2022 Knowledge about Language<br \/>\n\u2022 Language Learning Strategies.<\/p>\n<p>At Provo Primary, this Framework and it&#8217;s 24 units is adapted and extended to meet the needs of the children from Yr1 &#8211; Yr 7.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside teaching Spanish,  we also celebrate the rich diversity of language that our international student body has and offer opportunities for children to share aspects of their language, heritage and culture within their class and the school community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mrs. Mary and Mr. David are teaching Spanish this year.\u00a0 They are following the units provided in the UK &#8220;Framework for Languages&#8221;.
