\"\"<\/a>All Provo Primary families are invited to join us for an afternoon of creativity at our Global Cardboard Challenge event.<\/p>\n

Help us to build\u2026 ‘Cardboardia\u2019<\/em> a city where everything is made from recycled cardboard!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

What would your family add to our city? A fairground? A skyscraper? A castle? A park or even a soccer stadium? We\u2019ll need everything from the neighbourhood cat to an international airport!\u00a0 Will it be a city of the past, present or future? No idea is too big or too small for Cardboardia – our imagination is the only limit!<\/p>\n

So start planning as a family and meet us at Provo Primary on Sunday 30th – 3pm onwards.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Just bring:<\/strong><\/em>
\n\u2022 Scissors, box cutters, etc.<\/strong><\/em>
\n\u2022 LOTS of masking tape (no duct tape please)<\/strong><\/em>
\n\u2022 An imagination <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We have loads of cardboard <\/strong>but feel free to bring any tubes, thin card or any other card resources you think would help to embellish our city.<\/p>\n

Please BYO drinks and snacks and cash for our lemonade stand!<\/strong><\/p>\n

All children need to be accompanied by at least one family adult or supervising adult.<\/strong><\/p>\n

No technology, just simple, basic, imaginative fun!<\/p>\n

Initially inspired by the short film, \u2018Caine\u2019s Arcade,\u2019<\/a> the Global Cardboard Challenge is a worldwide celebration of child creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it.<\/p>\n

The film<\/a> is well worth a watch:<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n

9-year-old Caine Monroy spent his summer vacation building an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad\u2019s store. Filmmaker Nirvan Mullick\u00a0walked in by chance and\u00a0 Caine asked him to play, and, well, watch Caine\u2019s Arcade and Caine\u2019s Arcade 2 to see what happened next\u2026 <\/span>6 years on Caine’s Arcade still inspires.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s time to ‘think outside the box’!<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

We are excited about our very 1st participation in the Global Cardboard Challenge because it:<\/span>
\n\u2022 engages children in creative play<\/em><\/span>
\n\u2022 fosters creativity, ingenuity, resourcefulness, perseverance and teamwork<\/em>
\n\u2022 gives children an opportunity to explore their interests and passions, and make things that have an impact on others<\/em>
\n\u2022 provides a platform for communities to actively foster and celebrate child creativity<\/em>
\n\u2022 increases global happiness and makes for a happier, more playful world.<\/em>
\n\u2022 is FUN!<\/em><\/p>\n

Through the Cardboard Challenge, children will learn maths, engineering and other STEM related concepts, writing, design thinking, creative problem solving,<\/span>
\nsustainability, social entrepreneurship and more. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Challenge is a great way to recycle the massive pile of cardboard packaging that our resources came on island in and we’re sure it will get families involved and excited about playing and learning together.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Global Cardboard Challenge is a fun, playful and inspiring way to foster creativity
\nin children through a simple process called Creative Play.
