It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s based on a simple set of tools that produce \u00e2\u20ac\u0153gifted\u00e2\u20ac\u009d results.\u00c2\u00a0 Hands-on and investigative, The Private Eye uses everyday objects, a jeweler\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s loupe (magnifier), and simple questions to develop higher order thinking skills, creativity and scientific literacy: <strong><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What is that like?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 <strong><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153What else does it remind me of?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> \u00e2\u20ac\u0153What else does it look like?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/strong> These analogies, written in the compressed form of metaphors and similes, become the bones-for-poems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Each of the children in Grade 5 wrote a poem after looking closely, through a loupe, at a scallop shell.\u00c2\u00a0 Here are a couple of them.\u00c2\u00a0 Can you guess which shell they were looking at?\u00c2\u00a0 Can you see how the shells inspired their poems?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2275 aligncenter\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"shells-28-05-09\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.provoprimaryblog.com\/wp-content\/blogpix\/shells-28-05-09.jpg?resize=200%2C163\" alt=\"shells-28-05-09\" width=\"200\" height=\"163\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>War Shell<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Barb wire getting boiled in molten lava<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Bullet wounds in fallen soldiers<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Blood on the white silver sand<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Tears of loved ones on the lonely bed<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Terrible cries of agony on the battlefield<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">True and noble soldiers put to the test.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>My Shell<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">An early morning sun<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Patterns like waves on the beach<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A racing cheetah in the forest<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Lines that are parallel,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">A sandy beach from a distance,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Zig zag lightning strikes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All the children in Grades 3 &#8211; 7 have enjoyed writing poetry with Miss Bonnie this week, using the &#8216;Private Eye Program&#8217;.
