<\/a>Learning about the story of \u2018The Three Little Pigs\u2019, has lead the Preschoolers into an array of activities involving retelling the story; exploring buildings and building materials; and sorting and naming shapes.<\/p>\n

The children have been excited to take on lead roles in acting out the story. \u00a0The highlight has been listening to the children change their voices for the different characters (especially the Big Bad Wolf) and seeing them taking turns in conversation and with taking on the different roles.<\/p>\n

Everyone has joined in with building the pig\u2019s house with brick\u2026 using the pebbles; the house of sticks\u2026 using popsicle sticks; and the house of straw\u2026 using spaghetti. We even set up an experiment to see if we could blow down our brick house with the strong force of air from a hair dryer \u2013 it didn\u2019t blow down!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The story of \u2018The Three Little Pigs\u2019 has encouraged lots of communication between the children, especially when they have been acting out the story using props.\u00a0 They have also enjoyed learning some facts about the life of pigs and how they like to live in the mud.<\/p>\n

Exploring shape, the children have enjoyed making pictures with cut out shapes such as: animals, houses, transportation, trees etc. Each day during snack, lunch or free play the goal has been to look for shapes around them and to point them out to their peers. There is now an everyday conversation as they look at the shape of their food and describe it to their peers.<\/p>\n
