When we arrived in Heorot Hall, we had a huge feast of barley cakes and boar flesh. It was all delicious made by the best cooks in Denmark. The feast did not last long, soon it was dusk.<\/span><\/p>\n Everyone started to leave led by King Hrothgar, followed by his thanes, but before they left they put down wolf skin mats for us to sleep on, then they left too. The last one to leave was the Queen and before he left she poured some mead for us to drink.<\/span><\/p>\n So we toasted to our last night together and we all drank our mead, but Beowulf was last to finish. We soon became serious.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bar the doors,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d shouted Beowulf. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Bars will not keep him out, but they may give us some warning of his presence,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d he exclaimed a bit quieter. Those were his last words.<\/span><\/p>\n We all lay down as if to go to sleep with our swords beside us. I looked around me, some people were staring into the glowing embers of the fire, and some were praying, none of us had any hope of seeing the morning but we did not regret it, we were proud to be fighting for our leader.<\/span><\/p>\n \n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n When I moved into Heorot Hall I felt very fidgety. Then King Hrothgar greeted us with some proper boar flesh, barley cakes and some of his greatest collection of mead. We had a great toast to say \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Although we may not see each other or daylight again, it is a good thing that we have done.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/span><\/p>\n When we had finished our meal, the maids cleared the tables. Hrothgar warned us that it was almost dusk and that the Night Stalker would arrive soon. So we lay down on our wolf skin blankets. As the last person went out of the room, Grendel was already on his way to the hall.<\/span><\/p>\n I could just about hear the heavy breathing coming from the men around me, I could feel the sweat dribbling down my face. I just started praying for myself and telling myself it is a good thing to do because Hrothgar helped my father so I am going to help him too by killing this Hideous Death Shadow. I suddenly stopped. I heard booming footsteps walking to the door. Grendel had arrived. I quickly put down all my gear because I knew they wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t do any good against the strength of Grendel.
