\"tci-crest\"<\/a>National Education Week here in the Turks and Caicos will be observed between February 28th\u00a0 \u2013 March 4th , 2016 under the theme, \u201cSuccess for Every Learner\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the week, schools will host a myriad of activities all over the country and the general public is encouraged to join in unity with educators across the country in support of the theme. \u00a0 Here at Provo Primary we will have a variety of activities sprinkled throughout the week.\u00a0 With World Book Day celebrations on Thursday 3rd<\/strong> including visits from British West Indies Collegiate student storytellers and our \u2018Open House\u2019 showcases on ‘STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) Learning in the Early Years’<\/strong> and ‘Topic-Based Learning in Year 1-6’ on Friday 4th<\/strong>, we are set for a busy week ahead.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Education Week was established more than 27 years ago to call attention to the importance of education and to showcase the talents of TCI teachers and students. Minister of Education Hon Akierra Missick shared that:<\/p>\n

\u201cSuccess is ensuring that on leaving our system, all children are able to leave with some form of certification. The Ministry believes the curriculum must be reviewed, that Technical and Vocational teaching and learning must be enhanced, that children with special learning considerations must be given opportunity for inclusion and resources must be in place to ensure all of this takes place.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The schedule of national activities marking Education Week 2016 is as follows:<\/p>\n

TCI MUSEUM HISTORY & CULTURAL HERITAGE QUIZ FINALS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Venue: Gustarvus Lightbourne Sports Complex<\/p>\n

Time: 1:00pm<\/p>\n

NB. The preliminary round will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016<\/p>\n

Teachers\u2019 Day<\/strong><\/p>\n

Schools throughout the islands have planned in-house activities which will culminate on Friday 4th March (Teachers Day).<\/p>\n

Parents and community partners and are encouraged to come out in support of the various activities and join in the quest to achieve success for every learner.<\/p>\n
