\"jk-daily-routines-29-0914\"The JK’s are quickly becoming comfortable with their classroom daily routine.\u00a0 The daily routine supports children’s choices, decisions, and plans which are the basic framework for development. Two of the structured activities in our routine are “Linking in” and “Job Chart”.<\/div>\n

The children place a specific coloured link under the colour coded day of the week when they arrive each day.\u00a0 This is a concrete way of representing the number of children in the room on that particular day.\u00a0 We bring this line of links to our first circle time to compare it\u00a0 to a head count each day.\u00a0 The designated “line leader” for the day counts everyone in the circle that has arrived.<\/div>\n

Our Job Chart offers six children an opportunity to help out in their room by doing specific tasks each day.\u00a0 The jobs include, line leader, tidy-up prompter, lights on\/off person, book corner tidy person, and two table washers.\u00a0 These tasks help children to develop self initiative, a respect and ownership to the room, cooperation and a sense of classroom community.<\/div>\n

A symbol is given to each child which accompanies their name. As the children quickly memorize everyone’s symbol, this enables all children to recognize a person in writing(decoding) whether they are recognizing their own name yet or not.\u00a0 A great way to support literacy via charting activities of any kind.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
