\"\"<\/a>Year 5\/6 have been working hard since September learning all about the impact Martin Luther King had on how we live our lives today. We have studied his life and the sacrifices he made and how he carried this all out peacefully.<\/p>\n

As we have been studying how people in the past affect the way our lives are shaped today, we decided to take on a challenge. The children were given the task of choosing someone in the past who they felt had made an important difference. They then had to use their imagination to present in a vivid and persuasive way their findings on their chosen person to the rest of the class.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The presentations varied from PowerPoints to drama pieces to quizzes to posters! What was so interesting and inspiring was the variety in the people chosen. Some chose people who inspired them with their scientific advances like Thomas Edison and Galileo. Others chose leaders from their birth countries like Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln and Juan Pablo Duarte and then we had the playwright William Shakespeare, Jane Goodall and even Walt Disney!<\/p>\n

The children were clear, well-organised and thought-provoking with their research and we all felt we had learned an awful lot about a number of amazing historical figures by the end!\u00a0 Well done everyone!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
