As a school, we have been learning about the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the last half term. These 17 goals, part of The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, are,
“an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”

That sounds like something everyone should get involved in, doesn’t it? Well, our students certainly think so.
After spending some time familiarising themselves with the SDGs in their assemblies, our Year 6, 7 and 8 students have been discussing how they might help us all work towards a more sustainable future. And, as always, they are brimming over with ideas!
Armed with their new found knowledge, our older students embarked on a mission to become ambassadors for SDG initiatives at Provo Primary and Middle School. Their first task was to facilitate assemblies or group activities in all the other classes in our school, right from Toddlers to Year 6. They asked all the students the same question:
“How can we make our world a better place?”
