Year 1’s new historical topic is Homes; how we live in homes, creature homes and homes of the past. We’ve delved right into it! Using That Pesky Rat by Lauren Child, we designed and created a city scape for our furry friends. Afterwards, we wrote “Wanted” posters to help get our rats adopted by kind owners. Would you like to adopt one of our rats?
To start learning about the different types of homes we live in, we planned and made the different sorts of homes like, terraced or town homes (also called row homes), semi-detached and detached homes, as well as a block of flats. The children took their time, working in small groups and added a lot of detail.
Up next, we are going to label our different kinds of homes, as well as the different parts of a house, in English and Spanish.
