Year 5’s North and Middle Caicos Over-nighter!

Year 5 carried out their overnight trip to North and Middle Caicos this Wednesday (13-14th June) and they had a fabulous time!  The trip is a precursor to the week-long Year 6 trip the children go on; it is a chance for them to experience being away from home and their parents so they know they can handle this the next year.

This group of year 5’s were a superb representation of Provo Primary School with their great manners, excellent behaviour and kindness towards each other.

We started the day with a thrilling boat ride thanks to the generosity of Ralph and Maxfred  The children loved the dipping and diving! Then we headed to Mudjin Harbor for a swim, snorkel, lunch and walk amongst the caves, checking out the signs of erosion and coastal changes as we went. From there we headed to the Conch Bar caves, a highlight for many, with exciting stalactites, stalagmites and the ‘cute’ bats! Before we knew it, it was ‘ family’ dinner time with all 22 of us round two tables, playing eye spy.

After an incredibly well-behaved sleep, we all had an early morning shell-collecting beach walk before a delicious breakfast prepared by the amazingly kind and patient Miss Suzie Gardiner of Pelican Beach Hotel. We then visited Courtney Missick’s farm to see the vast array of fruits and vegetables he produces before trekking around Wade’s Green, learning a great deal about this slave plantation and making a wish in their well! A much needed swim was had after that, then lunch, a visit to the gift shop and home with 18 very tired but happy children!

A huge thank you to Ryan , Christina and the tireless Mrs B for all their wonderful help and support, I couldn’t have done it without you!
