Year 2 Colour Poems

In poetry with Miss Bonnie, our Year 2 children discussed colours and thought about how a colour looked, sounded, felt, smelled and tasted.   Here are a few of the original poems they went on to create…

Pink by Mae

Pink is the colour of my brain that makes me think,

It reminds me of glowing love and peace,

Pink sounds like oinking pigs rolling in mud,

It feels like crawling starfish on my feet,

Pink smells like delicate roses blooming,

It tastes like furry cotton candy and juicy strawberries,

My feeling about pink is like tutus on a ballerina dancing on a stage.

White by Jasmin

White looks like fluffy clouds in the sky,

It’s the colour of cold, white snow,

It sounds like someone sipping a coconut smoothie,

It feels like a smushy white marshmallow roasting over the fire,

It’s the smell of Jasmine flowers,

It’s the colour of ranch dressing that goes so nicely with carrots,

It tastes like Swiss cheese, so nice and so does rice,

White makes me feel so good inside like strawberries and cream.

Gold by Charlotte

Gold looks like Rapunzel’s hair glowing,

Gold sounds like jingling bells,

It feels like shining air all around me,

Gold smells like burning sun and buried treasure,

It tastes like chocolate coins,

Gold is the best.
