Year 1 and 2 Create National Heritage Month Posters Together

yr-1-heritage-day-oct-2015 (3)This year, Years 1 and 2 have been getting together for a weekly assembly. Our assemblies this term have focused on highlighting all the lovely National Holidays and other special days such as World Kindness Day, that occur during our school year. We have enjoyed getting together to share our learning with each other. Please read on to see their hard work creating posters for National Heritage Day!

Seeing as this month is National Heritage Month, I led an assembly for National Heritage Day. We talked about the national symbols, the flag and the national dress of The Turks and Caicos Islands. It was great to hear that so many of the Year 2 children remembered so much of their learning from our TCI topic last year. They were wonderful teachers for the Year 1 students.

As our main activity, the children grouped up and made posters of things that things that are special and unique to The Turks and Caicos and what they liked about living The Turks and Caicos. We finished by singing ‘Bucket on my Head’, as we learned that the people of The Turks and Caicos are proud of their music.
