SK are the Groovy Gecko Class

The Senior Kindergarten children in the Gecko class are

Groovy,

Enthusiastic,

Clever,

Kind and

Oh, so cool!

We love being called the Gecko Class because…

  • Geckos are considered to bring good luck. In Costa Rica as in many parts of the world, Geckos are welcomed.
  • These tropical lizards earn a roof over their heads. Geckos eat annoying household bugs, roaches, spiders and scorpions and because they do this, people are happy to let them stay inside their homes.
  • They are thought to protect the house and the family that live there. They are called the Guardians of the home.
  • There are over 1500 species of
  • Geckos have amazing toes that help them stick to almost any surface.
  • Most species of gecko can drop their tail if predators attack.
  • If a gecko has dropped its tail it can regrow back but will likely be shorter and coloured differently to the original.
  • Geckos produce a lot of sounds such as chirps and clicks to communicate with other geckos.

We had fun making geckos out of pipecleaners and lollipop sticks, we learned how to draw a gecko, we made a big gecko which we painted with our fingers and Mrs. Claire taught us a lovely song about a ‘Little Gecko’.

Take a look at the poster of our Big Gecko and all the little geckos we drew by carefully following instructions.

We hope you enjoy our video of the children singing ‘Little Gecko’.

Little gecko walking, little gecko slow,

Little gecko looking for his dinner you know.

Little gecko finds a fly to eat, oh what a fancy treat!

Chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp,

Yum, yum, yum, yum.

Little gecko full now, rub tum tum.

Chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp,

Yum, yum, yum, yum.

Little gecko full now, rub tum tum.

Little gecko watching, little gecko sees,

lots of spiders, bugs and bees.

Little gecko hungry, takes his time.

Oh what a friend of mine.

Chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp,

Yum, yum, yum, yum.

Little gecko full, now rub tum tum.

Chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp,

Yum, yum, yum, yum.

Little gecko full, now rub tum tum.

We hope you will sing along to our Groovy ‘Little Gecko’ song.
