School Council makes a donation to the TCIRF

school-council-donation-march-2014At the end of Fabien Cousteau’s presentation, our Year 5 and 6 School Council representatives invited  Fabien Cousteau, along with David and Don from the TCI Reef Fund, to a special Provo Primary donation presentation.  Two donations were made, one on behalf of the School Council to the TCI Reef Fund and one from the school to Fabien’s ‘Mission 31’ project.

Dress Down Day donations since the beginning of the school year have been collected for a local charity. With our Christmas show, ‘JoJo and his Amazing Technicolour Coral Reef’, centring on the theme of protecting our coral reef, the idea of donating the total of $230 to our local reef charity made perfect sense.

We will look out for JoJo when we follow the progress of Mission 31 in May/June.

David and Don were both very touched by the presentation.  They would like all the children to know how delighted they were with the DVD and the dolphin. They are already trying to decide how they can share ‘JoJo, Jr.’ :>). They also expressed how grateful they were for the thoughtful donation and will put the money to good use.  To learn more about TCIRF and what it does to preserve and protect our coral reef, please visit their website.

What a lovely way to give back to the local community and to be a part of helping the future of our islands’ coral reef, as well as supporting an international project that aims to explore and learn more about our undersea world.
