Provo Primary School soars high with outstanding academic achievement

yr-6-june-2015All of us here at Provo Primary School are immensely proud of our Year 6 students and their attainments in external examinations this year.

*  Top 8 positions in the TCI Middle School Entrance Examination and 10 of the 12 available places.

*  We scooped 6 of the top 10 positions in the British West Indies Collegiate Entrance Examination, including 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions.

*  In total, 12 of our Year 6 students have accepted offers from the British West Indies Collegiate for entry into their Year 7.

At Provo Primary, we firmly believe that our creative, hands on approach to learning, makes learning meaningful, develops curious learners, and helps to develop higher academic attainment.

Entry into Year 7 at both the British West Indies Collegiate and The TCI Middle School is performance based. With extremely limited positions, competition for space is fierce throughout the island for students to secure a place at the post-primary school of their choice. Our students prepared for their tests meticulously and the results that they achieved are a clear indication of their conscientious attitude to study at this demanding level.

All of our Year 6 students have gained entry into the post-primary school of their choice. Their perseverance, effort and abilities have been clearly recognised across the schools here on island, which offer post-primary provision.

Within the TCI Middle School Year 7 Entrance Examinations our students were allocated the top 8 positions.  In total, 10 of the 12 available places were awarded to Provo Primary students.  A huge well done to all our students on such amazing feats. We particularly want to congratulate Will Parrish (1st position), Luisa Hegewald and Arden D’Aniello (joint 2nd positioning) on their strong performances.

Within the British West Indies Collegiate Entrance Examinations our Students once again pulled out all the stops and produced excellent results, with 12 of our Year 6 students receiving an offer from the Collegiate for entry into their Year 7 this September.  Special recognition goes to Will Parrish (2nd Position), Luisa Hegewald (3rd Position) and Jasmin Coles (4th Position). Overall, we scooped 6 of the top 10 positions!

Following a UK based curriculum, our end of Key Stage SAT results also demonstrate that our students are well above the UK average. In most cases, our students are leaving Provo Primary this year working 1 or 2 years above an average UK student, with a level 5 or higher in the core learning areas of Literacy, Numeracy and Science.

Congratulations to all of our Year 6 students!
