Look what we’ve been celebrating!
We started this half term by celebrating Halloween. We worked individually to create potential designs for our Halloween Door. Once we had designed them, we looked at them all before taking part in a secret vote. Check out our winning design, hopefully you got to see it at the Halloween Party.
We also wrote our own ‘spook-tactular’ monster poems! Have a read of some of our favourite verses:
I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my toys
Her fur was soft
And she made lots of noise! (by A. B.)
I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my bed
His teeth were bloody
And he ate my ted! (by R. G.)
I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my clock
Her eyes were full of lava
And I fed her my lock! (by E. D.)
I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my toys
Her hair was purple
And she played with the boys! (by A. M.)
I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my books
Her eyes were giant
And she cooks! (by L. B.)
I thought I saw a monster
Underneath my fan
His legs are long
And he’s got a tan! (by M. G.)
Before we knew it, Bonfire Night was over, and we remembered the brave soldiers on Remembrance Day. We learnt about the war, where poppies come from and how they are made. We made our own poppies before falling silent to remember what the soldiers had done for us.
This week we have been celebrating Diwali. To start with we had a visitor come in to talk to us about how she celebrates Diwali and she taught us some very impressive Bollywood moves! We have learnt all about Diwali and the importance of the celebrations. To celebrate we have made clay Diva Lamps to represent the “festival of lights’, designed and drawn Rangoli Patterns with chalk and learnt the traditional Diwali story of Rama and Sita.
