Our highly successful Book Week continued tonight when the children returned to school at 5.00pm dressed in their nightclothes and clutching their cuddlies to hear some stories.
The evening began when Grade 4/5 – helped, of course by Miss Shara – told us the story of ‘Suzie’s Turn’ in song. ( I learned another bit of local history!)
Next up was Ed Williams: he replaced David Bowen (Minister of Culture) who was unable to attend. He told an Ethiopian folk tale about a lion and a hare, showing that strength isn’t everything.
The last performance was given by the children of Grade 6 who sang and acted out the Bahamian folk song ‘The Green Leaves Grow Around’ – very amusing and entertaining!
The children then returned to their classes where the teachers read and told a variety of tales and stories from around the world; milk and cookies provided by FoPPS finished the evening off deliciously!
Finally, for those who still needed more stories, the Unicorn Bookstore was on hand with a selection of some of their wonderful stock of books for children – many thanks to them for their support.
