Jk Celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee

The Junior Kindergarten were delighted to learn about the celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The children enjoyed a wonderful story about the life of Queen Elizabeth II.  After the story, the children got on board the Royal Coach (which they created during group artwork) and walked off dressed in royal attire to enjoy some of the queen’s favourite food in Royal garden.  Read on to see some photos and to read more about our celebration activities.

Representing the gates at Buckingham Palace, the Junior Kindergarten built a grand entrance out of giant Lego blocks, in front of the door to their classroom.  The children enjoyed colouring in pictures of Queen, depicting different times during her 60 year reign.  The children also each made their own flag.  Looking at the Union Jack flag, the children noticed the colours, shapes and patterns.   They looked for triangles and coloured them in blue and looked for rectangles and coloured them in red. The children particularly enjoyed learning about the National Anthem.  They learnt why it is an important song and also what to do when they hear it.  Dressed in their Jubilee costumes, it was wonderful to watch the children role-playing throughout the day.

What  celebration we had!
