It’s National Heritage Month – Oct 2016

tci-2016Take a look at how Provo Primary will be celebrating National Heritage Month this year and let us know if you have cultural or heritage knowledge or skills you’d be willing to come in and share with the children:

National Heritage Celebration Assembly

Our Culture, Our Heritage, Our Turks and Caicos”

(Friday 14th October @1:30pm)

Everyone is invited to join us as our Years 1-6 honour our national songs, tales and dances.  This will be followed by an opportunity to view some heritage artefacts on display and to sample some local traditional food.  Come join the celebrations!

Read on to find out more about our ‘Project Fridays’ and ‘Showcase’ afternoon or click on the thumbprint image.

 National Heritage Project Fridays

Every Friday afternoon, our children will be engaged in a range of really hands-on, exploratory Heritage and Cultural projects.  We will be inviting talented local members of our community to share and demonstrate a range of traditional experiences for the children to be actively involved in –  including Sloop building, tabby house construction, sisal weaving, traditional music making and recreation activities such as maypole dancing and pulling peggy (tug of war) and traditional cuisine and bush medicine.

Do you have an aspect of culture or heritage that you could share with us one Friday afternoon?

Please contact us at info@provolearning.com or 441 5628.  We’d love to hear from you!

National Heritage Showcase

(Friday 18th November @2:15pm)

Come along to our ‘Showcase’ where everyone is invited to come along to see the children demonstrating the new knowledge and skills they have learned during our Heritage and Cultural projects.

We’ll be encouraging you to have a go yourself and maybe you’ll even get to sample some of our cooking too!

Together, let’s make National Heritage Month really special!
