Football Crazy!

There was great excitement last week as our U11 boys and girls soccer teams participated in the annual TCIFA Schools’ Soccer Tournament with the boys team ultimately winning the championship.

Click here to see us featured on our local TV, WIV Channel 4 and read on to see more photos and details of the games.

We are very proud of all the players.  They demonstrated amazing talent, played well in their teams and displayed an excellent level of positive sportsmanship throughout the competition.  Well done!

Tuesday saw our U11 boys team competing in the qualifying rounds to gain a place in Friday’s semi-finals.  The final match on Tuesday, played against The Ashcroft School was a closely fought battle ending in a penalty shoot out. A real “nail-biter’” for supporters and players alike!

On Wednesday the boys took to the field again, this time in the U13 tournament.  Despite a fantastic display of skill, determination and teamwork, our team did not make it through to the semi-finals in this older age group.

On Thursday, it was the girls turn to play.  Fantastic performances in each of the three games that they played resulted in them losing one; drawing one; and ultimately, winning one.   Well done, girls!

The tournament culminated on Friday with both the semi-finals and finals of the boys U11 competition being played.   The boys’ hard work in the weeks leading up to the competition paid off as they decisively won their semi-final match against Enid Capron Primary School.

The final against Oseta Jolly turned out to be another thrilling encounter with both sides intent on taking the championship home. Despite conceding a goal early in the match, the boys kept their heads high, fighting back  in the second half and scoring two goals to secure the win.

A big thank you to Casablanca Casino for sponsoring our new soccer kit and to Krys and Andy Mann for taking such great photos!
