Congratulations to our Graduating Class of 2018

Congratulations Year 6, you have GRADUATED!

We congratulate our Year 6 children for their great effort and the incredible progress they have made in all areas of the curriculum. They have achieved the results they worked so hard for, have all graduated and are going to the schools of their choice. We are excited that 10 of our children will be attending our new Middle School (Provo Middle School) and the other 6 children will be going to B.W.Indies Collegiate.

Although we tend to focus on our children’s academic achievements at this time of year, these are not our only focus.

I did an exercise with the Year 6 class prior to their graduation where I asked them to write down their life goals

I went on to explain that life goals could be split into:

  • Things that they would like to experience

    (such as traveling, climbing Mount Everest, playing football etc.)

  • Their Personal Development/Growth

    (such as learning a foreign language, becoming really fit, running a marathon etc.)

  • The contributions they would like to make

    (through their friendships, business opportunities, voluntary work etc.)

They went away and wrote some lovely things which I would like to share with you.

The Graduating Class of 2018’s combined Life goals:

They would like to go traveling, dancing, play steel pan, live in the countryside, go to Ireland, Hawaii, Machu Picchu, Canada, Africa, Disney World, France, Paris and up the Eiffel tower;

They would like to live in California, Dubai, Croatia, London, Norway, or Sweden, spend time with family, have their own family, harvest wheat crops, get a puppy or a kitten, a dog, a golden Labrador, a husky, a pitbull, and a bunny;

They hope to buy a jet ski, improve their horse riding, be a grandpa, be an Olympic swimmer, win a game at Weston next year, be a photographer and take lots of pictures, go scuba diving, go to a cold place at wintertime and build a snowman;

They would d like to travel the whole world, know they’ve saved someone, be a hostage negotiator, find a cure for cancer, be an inspiration to others, rescue animals, become a vet to save animals all over the globe, make a disease free world, die owning a homeless shelter, make sure there is no World War 3, be healthy, die rich and be happy.

I also asked them to write down things that would enable them to achieve their life goals.

They said they want to:

Go to college and graduate, study marine biology, be an author, become a lawyer, doctor, midwife or surgeon, own a dog rescue centre, or be a professional dancer;

Make good pieces of artwork to sell, own an international business, go to Harvard, study psychology;

Become a vet, go to cooking school, be a chef, own a restaurant, have a well paid job, be a busboy, finish school with a good grade, go to university, become a business man.

Year 6, As I listened to your HISTORY song this morning, these words resonated.

“You and me got a whole lot of history
We could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen
You and me got a whole lot of history
So don’t let it go, we can make some more, we can live forever”

From the sound of it, there will be no stopping this team!

As you each move on to the next stage in your life, please keep writing down your goals and continue to do what excites and inspires you.

Ms. Alison
