Yr 4 Share their Ancient Rome Projects

yr-4-ancient-rome-projects-may-2016 (1)As Year 4 comes to a close for Flamingo class of 2015/16 they enter there last Topic, and what a topic Mr George has left for them. Over the last remaining weeks of year 4, we will be diving into the world of Ancient Rome. The children were given the task of a midterm homework project, in which a list was given to them of areas of interest in the Roman Era. As you can imagine the breadth and depth of these projects was immense.

Ranging from: posters with a whole Roman century on (that’s 80 men!), someone dressed in a traditional roman wedding outfit, a homemade Roman quiz, a presentation on Roman Architecture (with clear links to the TCI resorts designs) and even a Roman café with a wonderful array of traditional Roman snacks and drinks (with all the children trying dates and olives!)

The list goes on and Year 4 really did do themselves proud with the quality of presentation and also the research they did prior to this.
The presenting didn’t stop there for Year 4, giving up there ‘Golden Time’ voluntarily to share their hard work with the rest of the school. I think from the pictures attached the rest of the school were equally as impressed as I was!

As you can imagine all of Year 4 and I are now extremely excited to jump straight into learning about Ancient Rome, and how their inventions and desire to conquer the world has influenced us today, even on the Turks and Caicos Islands.

These homework projects are designed to hook the children into forthcoming topics of study, allowing them to take ownership of their learning and when their area of study comes up in class the option of leading the discussion. With your continued support this year as parents the projects have been of a really high standard and I thank you all for that!
