Our 2012 Christmas Shows are a Smash Hit!

Provo Primary School is renowned in the community for putting on amazing Christmas productions and this year’s shows once again lived up to our great reputation.

On Friday and Saturday night, stories as old as time and as wise as ever were brought together in a magical musical production that enchanted ,educated and entertained our community as they watched the children perform Aesop’s Funtastic Fables.

On Wednesday night Provo Primary Early Years department put on their Christmas Extravaganza.

Please enjoy our wonderful slideshow of the two shows and relive the spectacular evenings over and over again!

The Early Year’s Christmas Extravaganza started with our Toddler class singing Twinkle Twinkle Little star, using their knowledge of sign language to entertain the audience with their cuteness.  The Pre-schoolers then sang  “Christmas All Around” and danced to “Rockin’ Robin”.   Next, the Jnr Kindergarteners  performed a rendition of “Jingle Bells” on the hand bells.  Finally, the Kindergarteners acted out their unique version of The Gingerbread Boy, accompanied by the JK choir.

In Year 1 – 6’s Aesop’s Funtastic Fables, a children’s picnic in the woods turns into an incredible lesson in life retelling some of Aesop’s famous fables when a mysterious, magical storyteller appears.  Learning from nature, they listen to the secret of the ants, take tea with the bees, share honey with a dancing bear and howl with a lonely wolf.

The children then meet the sly old fox and there is even a mouse that’s best friends with a lion. They do battle with the Sun and Wind, watch a tortoise race a hare and meet a wise old owl who just can’t stop giving good advice.

Through a collection of catchy songs and wonderful characters, the children learn that in spite of all their differences, there is a spirit of love and caring that makes us all the same.

Of course a Provo Primary production wouldn’t be complete without a bit of humor thrown in. Lighter moments included some baaaaah baric jokes from the sheep scene and ANT eek jokes from the Ant scene. It included a Benny Hill chase and there was even a Beetle called John Lennon who was a great hit with the crowd singing songs like, “All You Need Is Love”, “The Hippie Hippie Shake” and “It’s Been A Hard Day’s Night”.

Well done to all the children and staff of Provo Primary – two amazing shows that thoroughly entertained their audiences and were a joy to perform!
