“What else does it look like?” and “What else does it remind me of?”

The Year 3 children used jeweler’s loupes to look closely at rocks, shells and flowers.  Miss Bonnie asked two questions “What else does it look like?” and “What else does it remind you of?” Here are the descriptive poems that Alex, Emilio, Ali and Jamie went on to create…

My Beautiful Rock by Alex

Like ice on a cold winter morning,

Shiny in the sun on a summer day,

Crystals that fell from the amazing moon,

Smooth as a pearl straight out of a stream,

Thousands of snowflakes from the soft clouds,

Rock, you remind me of a sparkling magical crystal,

Rock, where did you get your magic?

My Shell by Emilio

An electric jellyfish swimming in water,

A spider making a silk web,

A creamy vanilla ice cream,

A dark thundercloud before the rain,

A tall pyramid in Egypt,

A massive staircase going on forever,

My shell is incredibly magnificent!

My Rock by Ali

As shiny as glass blocking the bright sun,

As rough and smooth as a sparkling pufferfish,

My rock is like an ice cube going into hot water,

My rock is the colour of the sun just about to vanish

Rock, you are the dazzle in my eye.

My Flower (Jamie)

As smooth as my soft bed sheet,

As beautiful as my Mum on her wedding day,

As white as snow on a cold winter’s day.

Flower, you smell like a tasty chocolate cake,

The outside of you looks like waves in the bluest ocean,

You are as yellow as the shiny, bright sun,

In your center is a white soft sand dollar,

In your delicate cup is a ton of amazing beauty,

So that’s why my flower is wonderful.
