The Jr. K’s are enjoying their love of books by sharing their favorite stories with one another during circle time. As a class, we are looking at storybooks individually and retelling the story with puppets and arts and crafts activities. Along with sharing with you the latest language and literacy activities in our classroom, it is also important to share research in early childhood development on this subject.

Read on to learn more about language, literacy and active play in the classroom and to see more photos.

  1. Alison says:

    Great work Jk.

I managed to get a taste of the soup and it was very yummy. Couldn’t find the stone though as there was so much other good stuff in there.

Great to have you back Evie, and Jaqueline, we’ll miss you!

  2. Principal says:

Yummy, stone soup! Making it certainly looked a lot of fun, and the delicious smell had all of us asking about what was happening in the JK room that day!

I enjoyed the article about active play and feel privileged to be working in a school community that recognises and believes so strongly in promoting the importance of play. Through providing meaningful experiences, in which the children can embrace and develop their learning, we certain do help to lay a solid foundation on which continued learning can build upon their throughout life.
