A Fire Truck Visits The Early Years!

In Junior Kindergarten our topic is ‘Community Helpers’. We have talked about different people in the community who help us. We were particularly interested in firefighters and were lucky enough to have a fire truck from the Provo Fire Station visit us. We invited the children from Pre-School and Kindergarten to join us for a ride in the fire truck.  Click below to see more photos.

The firemen gave us all fire hats to wear.

George helped us all into the fire truck, it was very high up.

Our driver Ken took us for a ride in the fire truck.

The fire truck could only take 6 children at a time so we had to wait patiently for our turn.

After the visit we talked about our favourite part. The children in Jk 1 (Ms Myrna’s class) Enjoyed sitting in the high seats at the back of the fire truck and the different sounds the sirens made.

The children in Jk 2 (Miss Sarah’s class) liked wearing the fire hats and riding in the fire truck.

After the visit we discussed fire safety in the home, and how you should be careful around hot things as they can cause a painful burn or even start a fire. The firemen gave us fire safety colouring books, stickers and pencils to take away with us.

The children, (and adults) were thrilled with their ride in the fire truck.

Thanks to George and Ken for bringing the fire truck for us to see, and have a ride in!

It was great!
