Year 4 were lucky to have Mr Handfield, The TCI Conch Man, visit them last week as part of their Age of Discovery topic. Mr Handfield is a local artist who works purely with conch shells to create all kinds of art and everyday items. He explained to the class how he had been inspired to develop his skill of cutting, decorating and joining conch shells as a whole new art form. He how has a repertoire of over 25 designs that he produces for sale and his items have been sold and dispatched to countries all around the world!
Mr Handfield has kindly offered to help Flamingo Class with their Design and Technology project this term, as the children embark on the process of designing and making their own piece of jewelry using locally inspired materials and traditions.

It has been yet another successful and amazing turn out of students who are willing to donate their time, skills and ideas to becoming a School Councilor. Teacher feedback within the school, with regards to how the children presented themselves forward as candidates, was very, very positive. Therefore, a huge WELL DONE to every single one of you who participated in the elections this year. It really is great to see so much enthusiasm and interest in trying to make things better, not only for us in the school, and on our island, but also for the world around us.
A HUGE shout out to everyone who helped organise, and who supported our annual PTA fundraiser at Mango Reef last night. What a fun night it was! It was great to see Provo Primary parents and community friends all enjoying themselves together. The children’s phenomenal artwork decorated the area and reminded us of the reason why we were all there. Both Provo Primary and

A HUGE thank you to local artist Lucie Winton-Stubbs, from Diftwood Studios, for coming in to help create these beautiful paintings together with our Year 3 and 4 children. What a multitude of skills and techniques were taught as she carefully took them through the process step-by-step. I think you will agree that she encouraged oodles of artistic flair and talent to be creatively released onto the canvas. Aren’t they wonderful?! Look closely and you will see lots of individual details – just like their creators, there are many similarities and yet they are unique in their design!
‘Turtle Week’ was a busy, fun and turtley exciting week in KS2. We are very grateful to Miss Katharine and Mrs. Amy from
Has our ‘Turtle Week’ at Provo Primary inspired you to find out more about sea turtles in the Turks and Caicos Islands? If so, then perhaps you may like to relax in a hammock, or on the beach, and read through some wonderful articles from our locally produced magazine – The Times of the Islands.
Last Saturday morning saw Provo Primary school take part in the Spring Inter-Island U12 tag rugby competition. With tag rugby being such a popular sport on the island and interest from all schools at an all-time high, it was no surprise that Provo Primary could enter two teams: Provo Thunder and Provo Hurricanes.

A reminder to all that we invite you to attend our Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) Meeting tonight at 6.30pm at Provo Primary School.
A big thank you to Year 4 for teaching everyone in assembly on Friday about why we celebrate Commonwealth Day.
