The Great Provo Primary PTA’s Egg-cellent Egg Hunt – 2015

egg-hunt-2015Our annual PTA egg hunt was once again a phenomenal success. All the way from our youngest students, right through to our oldest, everyone enjoyed the egg-citement of searching our playgrounds for colourful eggs, filled with treats.  In total almost 500 eggs were concealed, with a few ‘golden’ eggs with eggs-tra special treats inside. What an eggs-travaganza! Everyone was thoroughly egg-hausted at the end – no doubt especially the Easter Bunny, who came very early today to hide them all.

Walnut, our school chicken, took a break from laying today, but didn’t want to miss out on the hunt, collecting 5 eggs of her own!  Well done, Walnut!

All in all, a lovely way to have some fun and celebrate the end of a hard-working and productive term – Happy holidays, everyone and see you all back on Tuesday 14th April!

The evening was definitely an all-round success.  We would like to pass on a huge thanks to everyone came along, to the Graceway Sports Center and to Haley and her team who helped to organise and run the event!

Sk8 Night A Big Success

Skate-night-2014-255Red-faced, sweaty and all smiles, skaters throughout the night enjoyed the camaraderie of skating with pals from school and elsewhere while parents socialized on the bleachers or got in on the act and skated right along with their kids.  While the younger set had a spot to boogie off the “ice”, this year the majority of children attending – from 3 to 13+ – skated, and skated incredibly well, with nary a wipeout to be seen.

A huge thanks to all that came out and supported the event; the cadre of PTA volunteers that manned the admissions table, rink door, concessions and puck shooting contest., making the evening a smooth running success; to Lemon2Go and Giggles, whom generously donated prizes for the puck shooting contest; and to MELT, who treated each child to a $10 voucher on their way out (many of which were seen being used the following afternoon!).

Another Spooky & Spectacular Halloween Party!

pta-halloween-night-oct-2013Making the front page of the TCI Weekly News for the 2nd year running, the Provo Primary PTA’s annual Halloween party was a smash hit once again as tribes of ninja’s, groups of Goths and all manner of vampires, witches and zombies invaded the school campus for 2 hours of post-trick or treating fun.

While the spider-web and light encased dance floor proved popular with the younger set, the TCI Middle Schoolers kept other attendees busy with a variety of games including “pin the nose on the pumpkin”, bobbing for apples, pumpkin bowling and spooky darts.  Parents got in on the action as well with costumes that rivalled their children’s’ get-ups…a trio of colourful crayons was seen on premises, and Cleopatra and King Tut also made the scene.

A huge, huge thank you to…

Back To School PTA Beach Get Together

FamilyBeachParty--sept-2013The thunder subsided and the rain held off for a very well-attended Beach Day this past Saturday afternoon.   The beach in front of Ricky’s Flamingo Cafe was the perfect spot for parents to escape the sticky weather and socialize while the kids played soccer, boogie boarded, jumped from the pier and swam like fish with new and old friends.  Families reluctantly began to pack up only as the sun went down and early bedtimes beckoned their extremely sandy and tired children!

New PTA Purchases Enhance Learning Opportunities Across The School!

pta-thank-you-sept-2013At the end of the summer term, the PTA allocated over $6000 to help the school purchase a variety of wonderful new equipment and resources which will enhance the teaching and learning of all the children across the school.  All the children, parents and staff would like to thank the huge number of people and organisations who generously supported our fundraising events last year, allowing us to work together to improve the educational experience of all Provo Primary Students.  Click on to read more about how the money was spent…

PTA News – Autumn 2013

pta-logoWelcome and welcome back to school!  Although the year is new, there is already so much in the works.  First up for the PTA will be getting started on the shade project for the soccer pitch.  Funds for this exciting and long-desired playground improvement were allocated in June but due to the summer holidays, we delayed the project until now.  Please let us know if you have construction/budgeting expertise and would like to be an advisor.

Class rep/Room parent sign up sheets have gone up outside all classroom doors…this is a great way to get involved, assist your child’s teacher and get to know other class parents.

Finally, the PTA is looking for 2 yard sale coordinators.  Provo Primary typically holds 3 Saturday morning yard sales throughout the year (1 per term).  A straight-forward and relatively simple money maker, these sales are extremely popular with the community. Term 1 – tentatively set for Saturday 5th October.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

SAT. SEPT. 14 – Provo Primary Term 1 PTA Beach Party – pack a cooler and head over to the beach by Ricky’s Flamingo Cafe for socializing and swimming with other school families.  The fun begins at 3:30pm.

MON. SEPT 16 – 6:30pm – 7:30pm, School Library – Term 1 PTA Meeting.  Please join us as we see how PTA funds from last year were allocated and make plans for the year ahead.  All parents are welcome!  Childcare will be available.

THURS. OCT 31 – Provo Primary’s Annual Family Friendly Halloween Party.  New ideas always welcome for this fantastic annual event that made the front page of the paper last year!  Volunteer sign-ups will go up in October for ticket sales, bartenders/concessions, decorating and entertainment committees.

Look forward to seeing you around school!

Oh What A Night!

cocktails-curry-pta-may-201May the 3rd turned out to be a night to remember as the PTA’s “Cocktails & Curry” fundraiser drew a sold out crowd to Bay Bistro and raised thousands of dollars for learning resources and playground improvements.

There was a high-energy vibe throughout the night, set to a soundtrack compiled for the evening by Jo Gray and spurred on by enthusiastic bidding over Charlotte Chapman’s classroom created art projects.  Of course Clive Whent’s curry was unparalleled and guests raved about the meal for days following the event.

A fabulous evening that went on into the wee hours, a huge thank you to the many parents and staff involved in putting such a successful fundraiser together and for all who attended in support of the school.

PTA Cocktails and Curry Evening

CURRYPOSTER-2013When it comes to curry, it doesn’t get any better than Clive’s, so please join us for a fabulous evening of food and friends on Friday 3rd May, as we raise money for improved technology, learning resources, playground equipment and scholarships for the school.

Cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm with passed hors d’ouevres, followed by an extensive curry buffet and dessert. Silent and live auctions featuring restaurant, travel and recreational activities will be held throughout the night. Tickets are $50 and include a 3 course meal. Cash Bar.

Contact Haley Weldon for more information or to purchase tickets: hfweldon@gmail.com.

PTA’s Great Family Skate Night

pta-skate-night-feb-2013 (3)More students than ever laced up skates for the PTA’s hugely popular 2nd annual “Great Family Skate”, racing around the Sports Centre rink to the latest music while parents socialised in the stands and toddlers boogied on the dance floor.  A puck shooting contest saw many happy kids rolling away with gift certificates to Island Scoop and Giggles, and all were in agreement that the 90 minute party went by much too quickly.
