Our biology strand of science concluded this term with Year 6 students presenting a research project based upon the areas of extinction and endangerment within our animal kingdom.
Year 6 were posed with the challenge of selecting four extinct animals and four animals who are on the endangered animals list. After making their selections they had to carry out research using both traditional and digital resources to find out information about their selections.
The extinct section of the project examined theories presented by scientists to determine why extinction occurred for certain species; descriptions of how extinct animals looked when they roamed the earth; and environments and adaptations relevant to their survival when they lived.

Last Saturday morning saw Provo Primary school take part in the Spring Inter-Island U12 tag rugby competition. With tag rugby being such a popular sport on the island and interest from all schools at an all-time high, it was no surprise that Provo Primary could enter two teams: Provo Thunder and Provo Hurricanes.
This term Year 4 have been showing Provo Primary that they really are the most WILD of all the wild things! They have accomplished this through a Talk for Writing project in Literacy this half term for their Age Of Exploration topic.
What a fantastic start to 2016 Flamingo class has had. We have been delving into the faiths and beliefs of Buddhists all around the world. We started looking at the story of the Buddha and how he came to realise there was more to life than the life of luxury behind his palace walls.

Over the next few weeks, our Year 4 students are fortunate enough to be studying the topic
Last week Year 4 were extremely fortunate to have a TCI kayaking and snorkeling field trip in association with Big Blue Unlimited. This was to coincide with their topic work this term. We have been immersing ourselves in the wonders of the Turks and Caicos Islands and all the amazing habitats and creatures with which we are blessed . We’ve studied how different living organisms work together in our beautiful mangroves and coral reefs. We have also looked at how these ecosystems have been affected by our society over the years and how we can ensure that we preserve them.
What a fantastic half term Flamingo Class has had with our topic of ‘Moving and Growing’! We have learnt so much about our bodies and how they work! It also led us to looking at how our bodies enable us to develop in sport.
On Tuesday, Key Stage 2 took part in our highly successful annual PE showcase. The children modeled all the skills that the KS2 teaching team have taught them in this half term in gymnastics and basketball.
In year 4 this term we have immersed ourselves in the topic of ‘The Age of Exploration’. The children have enjoyed learning about lots of famous historical explorers. We have discussed the influence they have had on how people have seen the world through the centuries. We have also considered how the Tudor explorers inspired a generation to take on the mighty North and South Poles, Mount Everest and even the immensity of space.
Last week, Flamingo class were fortunate to have a special visit and talk about electricity safety from our local power company FortisTCI. This experience allowed us to consolidate some of our recent learning in our Science topic on ‘Electricity’.
